Copy Team Lead
Duties and Responsibilities:
Creative Production
- Understanding of work instructions and interpretation of client’s business needs, job orders, production briefs, and clarification of design issues and concerns prior to starting work.
- Quality checking and validation of other paginators’ work and ensuring the compliance of all completed pages to industry standards and client requirements whenever necessary.
Technical Production
- The skill and knowledge to create of pages using software such as Adobe InDesign.
- The skill and knowledge to optimize files based on client and industry standards, as well as ensuring that file sizes are in compliance with established requirements.
- The regular sharing of technical knowledge to team members, especially new hires.
Process Production
- The skill and knowledge on how to properly accomplish data inputting systems for every work.
- Ensuring the delivery of simple to complex work according to the acceptable turnaround time and/or standards and/or deadlines set by the Manager.
- The proper, accurate, and timely use of available production tools (Production Trackers and Google Sheets) and Client systems to complete a page.
- Determining whether a page is doable based on the provided instructions of the client and effectively decides whether to send the page back for clarification of instructions.
- The pre-validation of incoming pages and documentation of errors and/or adjustments needed to be done in an ad.
- The validation of finished pages and making sure that they are of good and correct technical requirements (design, color, typography, and file size) before sending them to the Quality Control Specialists or Onshore counterparts for final Quality Checking before delivery.
- Deciding which pages in the queue should be prioritized and assigning them to the paginators of the newspaper accounts.
- The documentation of page details and critical incidents regarding a page, client requests, and information that may also need to be communicated to the client during the shift.
- Working around internal processes, inventing new ways of doing production work to ensure quality and efficiency.
- As needed, or in the absence of functional trainer, provide training and guidance to new hires or on the production floor.
- Regularly communicating with internal and external clients using email, voice calls, and skype to provide status updates on pages in an efficient and professional manner whenever the need arises.
- Determining whether to escalate a client concern to managers and be able to quickly decide on solutions when problems in production arise.
- The continuous monitoring of all clients’ Service Level Agreements (SLA) and making sure that the said agreements are met during every shift.
Administrative responsibilities
- Addressing team concerns and issues such as attendance-related offenses, shift scheduling, SunFish application requests, and overall team dynamics.
- The mentoring, teaching, motivating, and continuous giving of feedback to new hires especially in the areas of client specifications, technical skills, design, workflow strategy, and new production processes whenever necessary.
- The checking of applicant exams as well as conducting applicant interviews and making sound decisions during the recruitment process.
- Maintaining productivity and accuracy standards for the role and submit to Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) when necessary.
- Regularly coordinating, collaborating, and interacting with team members and other department representatives to ensure cross-learning and continuous improvement.
- Abiding by the policies and rules of the company and act in a professional manner at all times.
- Performing/rendering or production reports and other duties or special projects, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
- Perform coaching and mentoring sessions with the staff on a regular basis. The discussion focuses on their weekly or monthly performance and other related performance concerns such as Client feedback or internal feedback from the Quality Team.
- Accepting tasks assigned by superiors and/or Manager with minimal handover.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years or more as a Team Leader or Supervisor level
- Degree in Advertising or with equivalent work experience in the Newspaper Industry as Layout Artist
- Knowledge and application of design tools such as Adobe InDesign (Photoshop or Illustrator is a plus)
- Excellent communication and Leadership skills
- In-depth knowledge of Performance Metrics
- With Flexibility in shifting schedules
